Cannes I - Nicole Kidman

Cannes Festival is starting up and at least one of you (SVDL!) has requested coverage. Your wish is my command. I can't promise to cover 'em all, but the better dressers will be here.

The first event I've seen photos of was the photocall for the beleaguered Grace of Monaco movie starring Nicole Kidman. If you're interested in the sad pre-history of the film you can find it here and here. But lets look at its star, shall we?

The dress by Altuzarra is actually interesting if very demure. But here's the thing - between her horrible blond (I miss her natural red so badly) to her super scary face, the dress washes her out, and its conservative lines do not help with making her look younger - which, presumably, was the desired effect with whatever it is she did to her face. Sad, really.

Kidman's co-star Paz Vega looked younger in her Zuhir Murad dress, although somewhat work appropriate.. then again, given the subject matter of the film you could understand why its actors wanted to go with respectable sophistication...
